connection

 My first connection is about how jonas is very excited but also kinda like scared and nervous. I really think this would summarize what I felt like the day before the first day at a new school. I was pretty nervous but still excited.in the book the giver the main charrecter is nervous about his twleth ceramony(twelvth birthday)
where he will be assigned his job for the rest of his life. this clearly helps me think about how he feels and also helps me understand what its like, helps me imagine the scene and feel it.

In the announcements jonas gets singled out this makes me remember a memory buried deep in my head. In my old school i used to get singled out and humiliated by my teacher. So it also helps me have a stronger experience reading this book.

jonas helps with the retirement house and it really makes me think about the people in this world that help homeless and old people cross the road or carry groceries for people even though it is not their job. this reminds me of all those good will videos on the internet or the articles all over the media. it makes me feel good and also lets me look at what it must feel to be the helpless like the old in the giver.

how they only use bikes it makes me think about north korea and how they can't use motorised vehicles and only the military or the dictator. like in the book only the government can use motorised vehicles like the cargo plane. it also makes visualise how odd the community is and how it is like a brainwashing dictatorship.
